As a Principal Partner of Frontline HR Solutions, Mike Perkins has been providing expert guidance and solutions to employer and employee clients for over 30 years. A top-rated attorney and SHRM Senior Certified Professional, Mike applies a unique combination of legal, HR/labor relations and conflict resolution experience and skills to help Frontline clients solve their toughest challenges. In addition to proactive training and counseling, Mike specializes in “firefighting”- helping employers with urgent matters like workplace threat mitigation, responding to union organizing efforts, discrimination and harassment investigations, safety issues, large ramp-ups and ramp-downs, drug and alcohol issues, internal dispute resolution, employee lawsuits and government agency inquiries.
A graduate of the University of Alabama, Mike started his professional career in communications as a television reporter, press secretary and working in political campaigns. After attending law school at the Florida State University College of Law, Mike became an attorney and shareholder in the respected Clark, Partington, Hart law firm in Pensacola, Florida, where he built a successful employment law and litigation practice. From there, Mike served as Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Landrum Human Resource Companies, a leading regional professional employer organization (PEO). Mike later went on to become the Corporate Employee Relations Manager for Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company with over 8,000 employees and 120 locations worldwide. At Progress Rail, Mike managed employee and labor relations and oversaw the company’s ethics and compliance hotline, and all internal ethics and employment-related investigations. Mike transitioned from Progress Rail to start Frontline HR Solutions in 2019.
Mike’s most significant formative and educational experience came in an unusual manner. From 2006-2013, Mike and his wife, Kim, took a “service break” and served as live-in houseparents at the Big Oak Boys Ranch in Gadsden, Alabama. There, Mike and Kim were the primary emotional, physical and spiritual supporters, encouragers and role-models for eighteen “at-risk” young men aged 8-18. This experience has helped Mike more effectively communicate with people from all walks of life.
Mike and Frontline provide strategic, prompt and discreet solutions and support for clients facing today’s complex issues. He emphasizes proactive education, training, and compliance as preferred solutions over confrontation and litigation. He has worked with business owners, board members, trusted advisors and employees in all types of businesses and non-profits including manufacturing, professional, charitable, religious, retail, logistics, services, transportation and health care. Without a doubt, Mike says his greatest accomplishments and blessings are his over 40 years of marriage to Kim, their extended Boys Ranch family, their grandchildren and their grown children who are all happily married, employed and paying their own bills.
